Silva 3.0 beta Released

Infrae is thrilled to announce the beta release of Silva 3.0. This major new version sports a completely rebuilt and state-of-the-art user interface. It’s entirely Ajax-driven and much more userfriendly, responsive, and performant. Silva 3.0 also includes a new visual editor running on top of a new Silva Document. For site managers, the Code Sources have been refactored to use references and are maintainable on the file system. Silva News Network has been refactored as well to use the new visual editor.

Silva – Security vulnerabiity 20110928: Arbitrary Code Execution

Today there was a new release of Zope 2.12 and 2.13, fixing a security issue that could let people execute arbitrary code on the filesystem from any Zope 2 application without authentication. The security issue does not affect Zope 2.11 and so does not affect Silva 2.2 or before. Only Silva 2.3 and the 3.0 alphas are affected.

MOAI Server 1.1.0 Released

MOAI is a platform that aggregates input from disparate sources and republishes it via the Open Archive Initiatives protocol for metadata harvesting. MOAI is built for institutional repositories that store relational metadata and asset files.

Silva 2.3 Released

Infrae is pleased to announce the final release of Silva 2.3. This release contains a gamut of new features for users, system administrators, and developers. The most important changes for users are support for mobile skins based on browser detection, and a robust reference management system that preserves links between resources. System administrators should note that Silva now supports WSGI servers and this is the recommended way to run it. Developers will enjoy a more consistent API and vastly improved testing infrastructure.

Mobi Mobile Middleware Released

Infrae is pleased to announce the release of Mobi 1.0, a set of libraries and WSGI components that interact between a webserver and applications which make mobile data available. Mobi detects the user agent header in web requests. If it’s a mobile phone ‘UA’ then Mobi categorizes it into one of three device types. The cellphone category is added to the request and the receiving application can decide how to present its content.

Silva 2.3 beta1 Released

After a sneak preview at Europython, Infrae is pleased to announce the beta1 release of Silva 2.3. This release adds a slew of new features for users, developers, and system administrators. The most important point is that it uses Python 2.6 and Zope 2.12 (it won’t work with Python 2.4 or any previous version of Zope).

This release adds a slew of new features for users, developers, and system administrators, and is a leap forward with Zope 2.11 and Five/Grok technology. Silva extensions can now be packaged as Python eggs. The “service_extensions” is able to extract information on those extensions using the egg metadata.Silva is shipped with Python eggs by default, and installable with buildout.Grok is used to configure Silva content types, services, views, skins, and forms.Upgrade steps now support complex revision number types e.g. 2.2.4b1dev. This makes it possible to define upgrade steps between alpha, beta, and minor versions. As upgrade actions could be needed in service_extensions for those version upgrades as well.
